Kaprediem, also known by his nickname Kap, is a player in TutelleMC. He is the founder and leader of Kapatiran.

Early life and education

Kap started playing in the Civ community in January 2021 on the CivClassic 2.0 server, until its closure in December during the same year. He has continuously led Lambat as its President, and later its King, except for a brief retirement that lasted two months.

Early childhood and education

The child who would become Kaprediem developed an early interest in geopolitics in history due to his exposure to a Cold War-era Encylopedia Americana collection. Young Kap was fond of watching historical documentaries and listening to AM talk radio. At around age seven, he thought an imaginary nation called Hanauma, which eventually was renamed Hanuma. The "nation" was an archipelago located east of the Philippines; its history drew parallels to Kap's home country, including a period of Spanish colonization, American occupation, and dictatorship. In-universe, Hanuma was named after a fictional leader named Francisco Hanauma, who would establish a dynasty culminating in Francisco Hanauma IV.

After high school, he took a year-long gap year. Kap discovered NationStates upon recommendation by his aunt. He created the Hanuman Islands after his childhood imaginary nation. Hanuma is has been labeled by the game as an "inoffensive centrist democracy" for most of its existence.

During college, Kaprediem initially played Minecraft in early 2013 before the release of Java Edition 1.6.1. He was introduced to the game through Banyough. Because of motion sickness, he stopped playing and moved on to other games such as Sid Meier's Civilization and Cities:XL. In August 2013, his desktop PC broke down because of liquid damage on the CPU. This prevented him from playing video games on the PC altogether. It ushered in what he calls "The Most Eventful Years of My Life", which lasted from December 2013 to April 2016. This period saw Kap's involvement in an ill-fated pop punk band and a college newspaper, which he refuses to live down up until recently.

After graduation, Kap worked as a call center agent, from which he saved enough money to purchase his first computer. This was the end of a long period of touching grass, before the popularization of the term. From 2016-2019, he mostly indulged in simulation games mainly as a form of escape from the global political situation and work-related stress.

CivClassic (2021)

The COVID-19 pandemic proved fateful for Kaprediem as it led to a string of decisions that would give rise to Lambat, and eventually, Kapatiran. From his cushy office job, he was sent to work from his dormitory in the city, until it was possible to return to his childhood town.

He was reintroduced to Minecraft by Banyough, who had been playing the game's pocket edition during the first few months of lockdown. They played on a now-lost LAN server and focused on building railways. Eventually, Kap decided one night to find a "geopolitical Minecraft server". Through this, he discovered CivClassic, where he established Lambat with Banyough.

Lambat was originally intended to be a small Filipino-inspired city-state. It had a republican government that eventually evolved into a democracy, before it slid into an oligarchy post-CivClassic.

The first iteration, the Free State of Lambat, lasted for a month until it's brief dissolution by Kaprediem. He attributed this decision to shock towards the chaotic management of a nascent political alliance, from which Lambat withdrew. By this time, however, Lambat had started gaining attention due to its regular posts in the r/CivClassic subreddit, particularly the weekly Lambat Post. Kaprediem returned to CivClassic and reestablished Lambat.

The nation was brought into the spotlight after the infamous Sack of Lambat. All of Lambat's wealth was pilfered by a two-person group named The Thieves Guild. Kaprediem's call to action drew in the support of various countries, most notably Mount September and Lusitania. After the incident, Metriximor made his state visit to Lambat, sealing the Luso-Lambatan friendshup treaty, which remains in effect to this day.

In mid 2021, Lambat ratified it's first constitution and became an electoral democracy. However, Kaprediem's attention was split between his real-life job and CivClassic. By August, after being elected to his second term, Kaprediem resigned as president and went into a soft-retirement, dividing his time between managing a small farm in the outskirts of Lambat City and residing in Mount September.

Unbeknownst to the community, Kap had become increasingly burned out by his actual occupation, which he still describes as his second worst decision he made in his entire adult life. This was the main factor in his decision to step down from Lambat. However, by October, he announced his return to politics; Kap ran as the presidential candidate for the November election against CommradePotaote. He managed to win a comfortable majority, but, his decision to withdraw from the Conference of Eastern States (CES) proved controversial and soured relations between the pacifist and pro-defense camps.

Further deterioration of the country's politics alongside Lambat's sustained economic growth was abruptly cut short by the shutdown of CivClassic in December 2021. Several members of Lambat joined other factions, while Kaprediem sought to continue in the then-upcoming CivMC server.

CivMC and TutelleMC I (2022-2024)

Lambat was relaunched in CivMC as an oligarchic semi-federal republic, governed by Kaprediem as the president together with the State Council. The nation was highly active during the first five months of the server, and became known as a transport hub. By early 2023, Lambat's development gradually fizzled out due to decreasing player interest. Kap would later announce his soft retirement on May 17 of the same year. Subsequently, two Prime Ministers were appointed to serve as co-head of government, one of which is TikraiNeGedvilas. In 2024, he attempted to revive Lambat by converting it into a monarchy and joining Pavia-Griffin as a protectorate. Such attempts proved futile due to an ongoing economic recession. Concurrently, within February of the same year, the first iteration of TutelleMC was launched. Kaprediem established a town named Sibat, focused on agriculture. He only logged on occasionally.

In-universe lore

Kaprediem is one of the remaining descendants of an ancient civilization, called the Lambatians. Oral history tells that the Lambatian people originated from two different worlds. The first world is described to have "islands plenty like stars in the night". The Lambatians were said to have founded a city of their own that served as a sanctuary for peace-loving traders and diplomats. Their people were apparently blessed due to springing up in a time of relative peace. Lambatians were regarded as "Last Among the Nations".

One day, the supreme deity known as "Taalnart", decided to destroy the First World, after trading his spiritual energy for The Golden Shoe, an item imbued with immense, dangerous power. Kaprediem's descendants, along with the other nations, were banished to a realm of darkness for hundreds of years, where no one felt any hunger, pain, nor boredom.

Eventually, the inhabitants of the First World were sent to a new one. The Second World was smaller, with bigger landmasses. Lambatians continued to live peacefully, however, they were afflicted by a disease called "jadedness", which led them to resent migrants and "newer generations". Despite building grander, more elaborate structures than in the preceding world, their people gradually declined, presumably spreading out or dying off.

Some of the remaining Lambatians sought to find a new world, away from the decadence of the older ones. They set upon a journey that took decades, ending up in the Third World.

The Third World had a harsh environment that threatened the existence of Lambatians. Many people succumbed to hunger, internal violence, and predators. One day, the few Lambatians left paddled across the ocean into the Center of the World. Suddenly, all Lambatians lost the ability to communicate with each other, not unlike the builders of the Tower of Babel. This event resulted in their dispersal. One Lambatian, Kaprediem, settled alone in the eastern continent of Pantropico, and founded the hamlet of Gintong Ilog.
